Where do you keep your NFTs? In a crypto wallet. First things first. The crypto wallet itself does not hold cryptocurrency or NFTs. These are stored on the blockchain. A crypto wallet provides a gateway to the blockchain where your funds are located. There are two popular types of wallets: hosted and non-custodial wallets. A hosted wallet is the easiest to use and most popular. They’re called hosted because a third party keeps your crypto for you, similar to how a bank keeps your money in a checking or savings account. Hosted wallets are set up by companies like Coinbase, Robinhood and Gemini so that when you buy crypto or NFTs, they are automatically held in a hosted wallet. A non-custodial wallet, like Coinbase Wallet or MetaMask, puts you in complete control of your crypto. To set up a non-custodial wallet, you just download a wallet app (popular options include MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet) and create an account.
